YAEL EBAN
(Israeli, b. 1985)

Yael Eban is a visual artist working primarily with the medium of photography. Her work investigates photography’s role in visual culture. Eban is a 2022 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Photography. She has been featured in Hyperallergic, Artsy, Collector Daily, and FADER. Eban has attended several residencies including MASS MoCA, Wassaic Project, and Vermont Studio Center. She recently served as co-director of Tiger Strikes Asteroid, a non-profit network of artist-run spaces. She is based in the Hudson Valley.

MATTHEW GAMBER
(American, b. 1977)

Matthew Gamber is an artist based in Austerlitz, NY. His photography work explores historical media technologies, underscoring their development and influence on visual culture. Since 2019, Gamber has collaborated with artist Yael Eban to examine the physical nature of photographs. Their projects explore themes such as authenticity, materiality, and the interplay between the physical nature of photographs and the medium’s ability to emulate and commodify surfaces.

Gamber is the recipient of an Individual Photographer's Fellowship from the Aaron Siskind Foundation, an Artist’s Resource Trust Grant from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, a Traveling Fellowship from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and a Blanche E. Colman Award. Gamber is Associate Professor of Photography and New Media in the Department of Visual Arts at College of the Holy Cross, having previously worked on archive and digitization projects with Harvard University and the Boston Public Library for Digital Commonwealth.
